Cal SOAP San DiegoCal-SOAP is a state-driven, college readiness program for low income, first generation high school students and targeted schools with low college eligibility rate. In the San Diego Unified School District all high schools receive some form of Cal-SOAP services. The San Diego/Imperial Counties Cal-SOAP is one of 16 outreach programs across the state of California. Our program is dedicated to providing information about postsecondary education opportunities, financial literacy and financial aid completion support to elementary through high school students while raising their academic achievement levels.

Cal-SOAP is committed to providing services to students from any of the following backgrounds:

  *   Low income families

  *   Families in which they would be the first to attend college

  *   Schools with documented low eligibility or college participation rates or

  *   Geographic areas with documented low eligibility or college participation rates

Academic Advising, College Advising, Financial Aid Application Assistance, College Planning, College, Application and Financial Aid Workshop, College Entrance Testing, Scholarship Nights, College: Making It Happen and much more!

SDSU Upward Bound/Health & Career Opportunity Program (HCOP)Hello Cavers, my name is Mr. Jose Mondragon – Program Counselor for SDSU Upward Bound/HCOP. I am honored to bring this opportunity to SDHS, if you have any questions about SDSU Upward Bound/HCOP I will be your point of contact.

The SDSU Upward Bound Program/HCOP program is funded to serve 167 San Diego County students during the academic year and the summer.


The program consists of two closely related parts: a six-week summer experience on the SDSU campus and an academic year follow-up, which is an opportunity for students to continue to participate in the program via one-on-one advising sessions and Saturday sessions. We would like to highlight that we also provide Health Career Opportunity Programs (HCOP) through internships and other STEM related activities.

San Diego City College Upward BoundUpward Bound (UB) is a college preparation program designed to assist 9-12th grade students to graduate from high school and attend the college of their choice. What does it cost to join Upward Bound?

Upward Bound is FREE of cost. This includes but is not limited to tutoring sessions, classroom instruction, college visits and trips.


How can I become eligible to participate in Upward Bound?

Have a desire to attend a college or university and a willingness to do whatever it takes to make this dream come true. Upward Bound serves high school students from low-income families and from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree.

University of California San Diego: Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP)The Early Academic Outreach Program (EAOP) is a University of California Program that works with 9th-12th grade students in preparing them for higher education! 


Our Services

As part of EAOP, you are entitled to personal advising sessions where a current UC San Diego undergraduate will go over topics such as career explorations, selecting the right major, going over college systems, and much more! 


In addition to our personalized services you will be invited to our workshops and events that will help you determine what college system is right for you, insight into various career paths such as Science, Education, Health Care, and so much more! 


Program Requirements

To be part of EAOP you will need to have two things:

  • You will need to meet with your advisor AT LEAST 3 times per academic year

  • You will need to have and maintain a 3.0 GPA

University of California San Diego Upward BoundUC San Diego Upward Bound, a college preparatory program for low income, first generation high school students in San Diego High School and Lincoln High School. Our mission is to help students to identify college requirements and to enroll in the college or university of their choice. As a federal program, we help students to achieve all types of higher education goals. Upward Bound students will receive ongoing academic support services during their high school years. Upward Bound tracks high school graduation, college enrollment, FAFSA completion and college graduation.


The goal of Upward Bound is to create a supportive learning environment. We want to see our students grow academically, and become culturally and socially aware. Upward Bound is 100% federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education

Wahupa Educational Talent Search (ETS)

Who we are:
Wahupa ETS is a FREE program to assist low-income and first-generation collegebound students in successfully completing a high school education and obtaining a college degree with financial aid. Wahupa ETS is fully funded by a U.S. Department of Education TRIO grant.
